Support for the Homeschool Mom

Homeschooling moms need a little support – confirmation that you are doing everything right or at least some ideas on how to do it better. There are several resources online where homeschooling moms can go to receive the support they need and we wanted to introduce you to three more. They are not saying anything new, but they are “newbies” themselves (live online for less than two years) and the voices are fresh and the communities are more intimate.

Three Thinking Mothers
Homeschoolng mothers Jessica, Mary, and Theresa have put their thinking caps on and share thoughts on their experiences as homeschoolers. The thoughts they share are ones that many homeschooling parents have and they provide a space where they each share their own experiences and open the floor up for good conversation. Each mother has children that started in public school, but they have since brought them home and have been homeschooling full-time less than five years. Their perspectives are more reflective of new homeschoolers begnning their journey and the blessings and challenges they have faced.

The Homeschool Village
Everyone has heard that it takes a village to raise a child, well, this is a village that is not only supporting the home educationing of your children, but also desires to build a community for homeschooing mothers where they can come to be encouraged while also doing the same for other mothers. Currently, The Homeschool Village is taking sign-ups to launch the second year of 5:11 Groups (inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:11 – “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up..”) where women are paired into groups of four and “meet up” (through E-mail, on Facebook, via Twitter or however the group members decide) weekly to provide spiritual, homeschooling, etc. support. If you are interested in becoming involved in a group, then complete the form and you will be notified of your group participation towards the end of August.
